A via ferrata adventure on our home mountain, Piz da Peres

A little thrill, spectacular views and the joy of reaching the summit – the via ferrata on our home mountain, Piz da Peres, is a special adventure in the heart of the Dolomites.

After a leisurely breakfast at Ciastel to fuel up for the day ahead, we set off straight from the house. It takes just 10 minutes by car to reach Furkelpass, the starting point of our tour.

Our tip: If you'd rather leave the car behind, you can take the bus. The bus stop is right by Ciastel, and the bus takes us to Furkelpass.

Step by step towards the summit

From Furkelpass, we follow the hiking trail towards Piz da Peres. At first, it leads through forests and across alpine meadows, before the terrain becomes increasingly rocky. After about an hour, we reach the start of the via ferrata.

Now it's time to put on our helmets, clip into the via ferrata cable and get going!

We make our way upwards, step by step, over steep rock steps and exposed sections. Every so often, we pause to take in the spectacular views of the surrounding Dolomite peaks.

The exposed sections along the ridge are especially exciting. Here, we feel the height, the rock beneath our hands and the fresh mountain air on our faces.

Summit bliss at 2.507 metres

After the via ferrata, the trail takes us over Little Piz da Peres and on to the main summit. At the top, a breathtaking panorama of the Dolomites awaits.

We take a well-earned break, savour the silence and let our gaze wander across the mountains.

The descent takes us via Dreifingerscharte back to Furkelpass, where our adventure ends after around five hours.

And the best part? Back at Ciastel, well-earned relaxation awaits in our spa after a day full of mountain adventures.
